The Plan
We’ve been in operation for a year and a half now, working strictly out of fantastic foster homes and not a building. We will continue to work with foster homes, as that is the best option for most animals, but the amount of animals in need is so much greater then we have room for. So, our waiting list is really long. Now it’s time for us to make a real effort to acquire a building. We’ve been told we can be located in 3 zoned areas. These areas are Industrial, Agricultural and Highway Commercial. Of the 3 areas, we would definitely prefer to be in the Highway Commercial zoned area. We’re going to be doing this in 5 steps.
- Draw up a building blueprint
- Find a suitable piece of land in Steinbach
- Gather surrounding municipality’s financial support
- Fundraise the rest of the money needed
- Get started on our building!
Well, step one is done! We have the blueprints for our building1 The Pembina Valley Humane Society has given us theirs, so that we don’t have to spend the thousands of dollars to have one drawn up! What an unspeakably amazing gift! Thank you so so much!!! We have had a very similar start-up to theirs , so we will be shadowing their success so that we can save as many precious lives as possible. There are 21 dog kennels (3 oversized) and 5 multi-cat rooms. This is amazing!!!
