Last months Adoptions & Newbies
The month of December has been amazing for adoptions.  Though most rescues will choose not adopt out animals in December, we choose to.  This is because we have never had a December adoption result in a returned rescue animal.  For this reason, we see no need to shut down during the Christmas season.  We do however encourage the public to make the decision to adopt as a family and not surprise anyone with a pet.  The person who signs the adoption contract is the legal owner and is the one claiming responsability for the pet.
December’s adoptions are as follows:
Bruno - male fox terrier cross dog
Josie - female grey/white DSH kitten
Tiny - male Siamese cat
Reine - female DLH calico kitten
Jackie - female grey DMH kitten
G. Wilikers - male black DSH kitten
Jackson - male Husky/Black Lab
Rascal - male senior Cocker Spanial/Poodle
Twiggy - female Staffordshire Bull Terrier
December’s newbies are as follows:
Jax - male lab cross older pup
Twiggy - female Staffordshire Bull Terrier

Emergency Foster Homes Needed

November 20, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

The SHS is working on starting up a new program to take in pets in emergency cases, and we need your holp.  These cases will be things like domestic violance, savere allergies and animal abuse.  We will need foster homes for these ainimals on short notice.  If you have room in your heart and home for even one of these precous lives, you will be a hero.  Can you imagine how many lives we could save if everyone who could, would take in one foster pet?!  That would be amazing!!!  If you wish to foster a one of these pets, contact lisa@steinbachhumanesociety.com or call 326-1274.

Too many times, it’s cases like these that end in tregedy.  Either the owners are forced to put the animal down, or a vitum of domestic violence is forced to stay in that situation because they are unable tofind a temparary home for their precous pet.  We need to step in and help now, before it’s too late.  Can we count on you?

Rescue Conections

October 10, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment

We are often asked if we are connected with other rescue groups.  The answer is yes.  We have a good relationship with many rescue groups - mainly DArcy’s A.R.C. and Pembina Valley Humane Society, but we are not affiliated with any of these other rescue group.  As well, since we are a Humane Society, people often assume that we are a kill shelter.  This is not the case.  We are a pro-life rescue.  In fact, we were the very first pro-life rescue in Manitoba, and we are very proud of that fact.

Hopefully this answers the main questions we are presantly being asked.  We thank you for your time and support and wish you a wonderful day.

This morning between 7am-9am the interview between Corny Remple and us aired on our local radio station Mix 96.7.  We were pretty nervous, but Corny made us feel comfortable and at ease, and it ended up going really well.  Clips will continue to air throughout the day.  We talked about our organization and how we are doing our best to make a differance.
