Chayse

Hi, I’m Chayse, a young (about 10 months) neutered male terrier cross.  I’m well socialized and friendly with everyone, including cats, dogs and children.  I love to meet new friends and play.  My one flaw is that I’m not quite house trained, but foster mom is working on that with me, and it’s going really well.  I’d love to find my forever home.  I love people too much to be homeless.  Please adopt me  :o)

My adoption fee is $200 and includes my neuter surgery and tattoo, first vet health check, first vaccinations including rabies, and first deworming

If you’d like to meet me, you can either leave a message at 326-1274 or email Melody at canines@steinbachhumanesociety.com

Petunia

February 1, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Hi everyone, My name is Petunia!  I’m a stunning adult calico cat with a wonderfully charming disposition and a sweet face to go with it.  I don’t mean to brag, but it’s true.  I was found cold, hungry Kitten, by my current foster mom early one bitterly cold winter morning.  My foster mom has nursed me back to health and although I am thankful to her for that, I’m ready to join a forever family of my own.  I’m well socialized and gets along well with other cats, but small children scare me.  I’m litter box trained, and have been spayed, tattooed, dewormed and gotten my vaccinations.  If you choose me, I will make a wonderful addition to your family.

My adoption fee is $30, down from $95 and includes my first vet health check, spay surgery and tattoo, first vaccinations and first deworming.  If you’d like to learn more about me, you can leave a message at 326-1274 or contact Cheryl at felines@steinbachhumanesociety.com

Hi, I’m Juno.  I’m glad you came to see my profile.  I’m a young adult Siberian Husky.  I’m a good girl, but I’m a little too curious when I’m not confined to the yard.  I enloy the company of people and other dogs, but I like to be left alone when I eat.  I’l looking for someone who will take the time and energy that I require.  I’m high energy and would preper a family with the same evergy level.  I’d love to go for runs, play and be taught all sorts of things.  My adoption fee is $200 and includes my spay, 1st vaccinations, deworming and vet health check.

Hi, my name’s Buck.  I’m a 1-1.5 year old male large breed mix.  I’m a good guy who loves people, and I get along with other dogs as well.  I enjoy playing with kiddos, but I may knock over the tiny ones by mistake.  I’m good-natured and love to play outside.  I’d love to join a forever family.  If you’re interrested in meeting me, call the SHS shelter line at 326-1274

Fostering Information

September 12, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment

Calling all animal lovers!!!
We are in desperate need of foster homes for puppies and kittens. At present we have many cats/kittens and dogs/puppies that are waiting for a foster home.
We need to come together and do what we can to find these guys homes - be it foster homes or forever families. If you can take in one or two puppies or kittens, please let us know asap. If not, please get the word out that we desperately need fosters. Thank you.

becoming a Foster Family

Becoming a foster family is quick and easy. Simply fill out our Foster Form and Agreement and you’re in! We do our best to cater to our foster families, as they are our life line. We provide you with the start up pet supplies and you provide the love and safety the animal so desperately needs and deserves. When you are running low on food and/or litter, you simply call one of our representatives, and we will provide the items free of charge to you.

Some of our foster families choose to provide the food for the animal in their care, and we appreciate this so very much, though it is not required of you as a foster family, but it is another great way to help out.

Click here to see a list of pet profiles of animals still waiting to be fostered.

For further information, check out our Fostering Policies below or contact us. We look forward to meeting you.

Fostering Policies

(Policies are subject to modification by the Steinbach Humane Society Founders.)

  • S.H.S. assumes all financial responsibility for all veterinary care of the foster pet while the animal is in foster care, unless the foster pet needs medical care for an injury caused during lack of supervision by the care taker.
  • It is the responsibility of the foster home to notify an S.H.S. representative immediately if any and all medical needs of a foster pet.
  • S.H.S. retains sole rights to screen, review, approve or deny any and all applicants who may apply to adopt the pet in foster care
  • If the residents of the foster home wish to adopt the foster pet in their care, they must complete the same adoption process required of any other person(s) wishing to adopt a pet through the S.H.S. It will also be necessary to sign and comply with the S.H.S. Adoption Contract
  • S.H.S. is not liable for any damages to persons or property caused by an animal in a foster home.
  • The applicant agrees to provide the animal with a good and safe home with proper shelter, care and attention.   While SHS agrees to provide the animal with food, dish, litter, litter box and a kennel if needed, the foster person will provide the animal with toys and other non-necessity items.  The foster animal is not to ride loose in the back of pick-up trucks, is not to be chained, or to be contained by hidden fences. The animal is not to be a purely outside resident. When the animal is unsupervised outdoors (referring only to dogs), it shall be on a leash or in a fenced area for socialization exercises. The animal (referring only to dogs) is not to be allowed to roam unsupervised when fenced areas are not present. The animal is not to be left in a kennel or small pen for time spans exceeding a ten hour period.
  • S.H.S. makes no warranties or statements regarding the animal’s health or temperament. It is agreed and understood by the applicant that while every effort is made to provide accurate history and assessment of a animal, S.H.S. does not warrant an animal regarding medical status or behavior or disposition. It is further agreed that environmental changes may effect and change the temperament of the animal and that S.H.S. has no liability or responsibility of any nature regarding later defects with the animal. The care taker agrees to indemnify and hold harmless S.H.S. and its members or representatives against any and all claims of any injury or property damage to the applicant or anyone else.
  • The applicant agrees not to engage in selling the animal to pet shops or supplying the animal for raffles, lotteries, auctions or laboratories. Should the applicant at any time be unable to keep or care for the animal, the applicant will contact and return the animal to the S.H.S. representative who placed the animal. The animal may not be transferred to another owner or shelter without the expressed consent of S.H.S. S.H.S. reserves all rights in reclaiming the animal, should we find the foster home to be unfit for any reason and by violation of the agreed upon contract.
  • The applicant agrees to not violate any federal, provincial or local laws or ordinances with the animal.
  • This agreement shall be binding upon the applicant and S.H.S. and their successors or beneficiaries.
  • In the event this contract is breached by the applicant, it is agreed the applicant shall pay $150.00 as damages. Payment of these damages shall not excuse the applicant from returning the animal to S.H.S. and does not include court costs or attorney’s fees as set forth.
  • In the event that S.H.S. employs an attorney by S.H.S. because of a violation of this agreement, it is agreed the applicant shall pay the attorney’s fees and court costs that may be deemed reasonably necessary.
  • If the applicant is renting their current residence, a signed letter from the land lord is required to specify what type and number of animals are allowed in the building.
